A Month Of Thankfulness – Bible Verses For Kids

Each November, I love to take extra time to focus our hearts on thankfulness as a family. Even though we try to always teach our kids to be thankful, and live a lifestyle of thankfulness, I do love focusing on it just a bit more during the holiday season. This year, I put together a simple printable chart with four Bible verses about thankfulness and praise – one for each week of the month. We’ll be using it during our homeschool mornings to read and memorize scripture together and then we will discuss it again at dinner with daddy to talk about how we’ve seen or practiced thankfulness throughout the day.

We’ve done this before with other verses, and it’s been such a meaningful and easy way for our family to slow down and notice God’s goodness in our everyday life. As well as remember what He has done for us already!

The printable makes it easy to keep God’s Word at the center of your family’s focus this month.

The goal isn’t just to memorize words, but to let the Word of God shape your family’s hearts and habits. Each verse encourages kids (and parents) to see God’s goodness in everyday moments and to practice thankfulness in real, practical ways. we pause to thank Him in the small, ordinary moments as well as the big ones, we begin to see His goodness all around us.

How to Use the Chart:

  • Read and memorize one verse each week. Keep the chart somewhere visible – on your fridge, by your dining table, or in your homeschool space. Then read the verse aloud together once or twice a day.
  • Talk about what it means. Use family devotions or mealtime conversations to discuss what each verse teaches about thankfulness and praise. Ask simple questions like, “What does this verse tell us about God?” or “How can we show thankfulness today?”
  • Put it into practice. Find small ways to live out the verse during the week by writing a thank you note, thank God in prayer before bed, help someone joyfully, or share a favorite toy, etc.

By the end of the month, your family will not only have memorized four verses on thankfulness, but also learned to notice and celebrate the blessings God places in your path every single day.
